Happy Anniversary x TWO!

Welcome to March! March 21st that is!

whatcha think, huh? we are making some progress around here!

our anniversary celebration started on the 20th. 

we tackled the rain & LA traffic to watch the Lakers take on the Portland Trailblazers.

And on our anniversary we headed down to san diego for the day with no real plan in mind. 

we ended up spending the day at sea world. 

now apparently, i have visited sea world as a child, but this was the first time i remember going. 

we checked out this guy...i think he is pretty famous!

our next stop landed here...

and no day is complete without checking out the dolphin show!

and we couldn't leave out these guys on our trip...

and how could we not snap a photo & admire this cool dude! (think finding nemo)

and because i am such a kid at heart & slightly annoyed that the baby on board prevented me from riding the REAL rides. we tested my fear of heights with a ride over the bay on the sky chair.

we finished our evening with a great dinner down in the gas lamp district. a sad but true fact we captured no photos of us. bummer.

A 60th Birthday Bash!

we are still hanging out in February. 

this time, we are celebrating a 60th Birthday!

yep, i know it's shocking to find out 

because she just looks so dang young 

BUT drum roll please & a BIG HAPPY FLIPPIN' BDAY to my MAMA!

how did we ring in the B-I-G 60? in style of course. 

we hit lucky strike with our game faces on.

we talked...

 

we ate...

we bowled...

AND we made wishes...

maybe for more time together as a family...

or maybe more time with life long friends...

whatever you wished for on your special day, mama, i hope it comes true. 

my wish for you that day, and everyday, is that life continues to surround you & spoil you with people that love & care for you the way you so graciously love & care for so many!

A Baby Shower - Connor James

REWIND to February!

try to keep up folks. 

i know it's a bit confusing around these parts with the present & 

past posts but we are still playing catch up over here.

now that we are all back in the cool & rainy month of february let's celebrate kristen and connor with a "baby love" themed shower. fitting for the LOVE month! 

kristen is my dearest friend. we go all the way back to the summer before 6th grade. we have gone from having beach days to slumber parties to dance recitals to bridal showers and wedding days. now, here we are, both welcoming little baby boys into the world just 7 weeks apart from each other. trust us, we wouldn't have it any other way. it has been so amazing sharing this experience with kristen. 

i had the extreme pleasure of helping host one of her baby showers. let's take a look at the day!

kristen's mama handled the tasty treats, yummy lunch & beautiful cake.

And we tag teamed the decor. i was told several times by kristen to not take it over-the-top. why would she ever think i would do that? wink. wink. so i kept things a little more low key.

One Month

beckham,
  a month ago today, we watched in amazement as those final pushes ushered you into this world. your sweet blue face melted my heart the moment i saw it. i was exhausted from the events of this incredible day but those first moments are burned into my soul. the doctor laid you upon my chest...just for a few short seconds. a few short seconds that completely changed the person i was into the person i am. and those same moments changed the person your dad was into the person he is now. we forever belong to you. you forever belong to us. in those moments we became your parents & you, my love, made us a family.

a whole month has passed. our days instantly became shorter but more full. your head of brown wavy locks kill me. those big blue eyes & long lashes make the sleepless nights disappear. your dimpled cheeks melt everyone that gets to witness them. with each breath you take my heart explodes.

watching your dadda with you is all i need to make my day complete. his strong steady hands make you feel so safe in the bath. which i'm convinced is your favorite time of day. listening to him talk & sing to you is heaven on earth. hearing him say "i love our little family" is music to my ears.

you, our little monkey, have changed and grown so much in one short month. according to our homespun measurements & weigh in, you have gained almost two whole pounds & grown almost three inches. you're now clocking in at 9lbs 13oz & 23 inches. your little neck is getting so strong. you can easily hold your head up for a good 10 seconds at a time. and today, you rolled from your tummy to your back. i am hoping it was a fluke because that is just too soon for me!

i think we may have a future swimmer or water polo player on our hands, just like daddy. you push so hard with your legs in the bath & love when the water splashes on your face. you have become such a smiley little man over the last few days. you smiled so big multiple times the other day you made your mimi laugh so hard she cried! and you broke your mama's heart today when you had your first real tears. watching the water drip out of your eyes pulled on my heart strings.

love bug, you have turned our world upside down. getting out of the house is now a serious task. and the amount of sleep we get is completely up to you. but, please know, your dadda & i would not change any of it. each and every moment with you is worth it. you are our handsome little angel baby!

thank you, baby cake, for choosing us to be your parents. we feel blessed & we love YOU with every part of our beings.
