and we couldn't have been happier!
let's get real here people i LOVE the heck out of my parents. i miss getting to see them on the regular and i so appreciate them making an effort to get out here as often as the do. i have always said i am totally and completely spoiled with love! i hope to provide a home like my parents did, one day, for our future littles.
what? you want to see their cute faces? i don't blame you...i promise i will deliver a few gems of my adorable ma and pa. but first things first. let's start at the top.
it all started with this...and oh-boy-oh-boy it was just as delightful the second time around!
then the crowd went silent because we had to work! boo...two thumbs seriously way down and a full on sad lip. picture it people because it's real and it happened.
because i had to work on saturday. whack. i took friday off to soak in some parent time. we toured the city on the double decker bus, which was a blast. i've never done it and enjoyed all the fun facts provided by our first guide.
ever wonder where sesame street lives? on the 6th floor of this building.
see all their pictures in the window
a little stop off with a walk through harlem (really it's not that scary) to get to...
my papa's home away from home!
so i mentioned i worked saturday. well jason was forced. yes, forced to work on saturday too (and NOT by me). his options - the warehouse or my jobsite. guess what he picked?!
my jobsite...good choice because it was a gorgeous day outside. probably the best yet this summer.
here is what i do for a living...
unfortunately. here in new york i don't get to design events like this very often. so this wedding was a real treat because the bride totally trusted me to make this happen!
driving back to the city was amazing. the sky was crystal clear and the temperature was perfection.
since we had a rental car for the weekend (because of work) we decided to venture outside the city on sunday to do some "apple" picking.
first stop...
about an hour drive and we had arrived at sherwood farm in connecticut.
take a look around inside...what a selection!
can you imagine the things were are about to pick?
"excuse me, it said on your website we can pick our own fruit! how do we do that?"
cashier - "oh yeah, that. that's a little discrepancy on our site. we are working on fixing that!"
we just all kind of looked at each other, giggled and said "a little discrepancy!"
side comment to each other, "a little discrepancy...more like we drove over an hour to come here to pick our own fruit!"
THANK heaven for our iPhones.
a quick little google search had us back on the road onto our next farm.
but, first a few photos in front of the tractor because
and a couple of j pretend picking because at this point we didn't know there was another farm close by so we at least wanted to get the motion out of our systems!
next up...
my dad saying "add a little bit of this and that and then ch-ch-ch ch-ch-ch"
in other words (chop, chop, chop - chop, chop, chop)
what's wrong j? is it the size of your pepper? you look bummed.
how cool is this?
and this...i spy a bumble bee.
to end our little day trek my mom searched for a spot on the diners, drive-ins & dives website.
that was after the GPS took us into the ghetto instead of a lunch spot by the sea.
it was a fun way to find a spot to eat and ended up being pretty tasty.
one last meal together before they left.
we snagged some burgers and dogs from shake shack.
it just isn't in-n-out but pulls a line about the same length...even in the rain.
we LOVE you mom & dad. thank you for coming to visit. it means the world to me.
i look forward to the next time i can see you both!

Miss you Megs!!
Love these pics! It's always a cultural experience reading your blog and I love it! What a fun idea to go to the farm...I am thinking Drew and I must do that this Fall!
You know that restaurant in CT, or was it NJ, was total yum! We scraffed! Good times, Megs! Good times!
OK I know you wanted to pick your own fruit but I would have gone crazy in that little market! Everything was so pretty! How fun to do the tour bus and to eat from a place on diners drive ins and dives. And that picture of the butterfly on the flower should be framed. Its so pretty.
Love this post Meg... so crazy about picking your own fruit... well you do get to pick which ones you want to buy out of the carton, so it's some what true! I was just telling Paul a few days ago that a bus tour like that around NY would be awesome. Looks like you had a great time, and how fun for new visitors this weekend. I sure miss you but feel so a part of your world reading your blog. Oh how I miss blogging. Give me 2 weeks and ill be back on it.
