well, good news...our little appleseed is still growing strong. it is nuts how much i can feel inside my tummy. the stretching, pulling and moving around as our little monkey gets comfortable.
jason said it the best the other night "how can there not be a God? it is amazing that your body just knows what to do every step of the way over the next 9 months to grow this baby!" it is so true. it truly is amazing. i have always been humbled, amazed...almost starry eyed about the gift of life. it is incredible.
i have been lucky so far with little nausea. still get crazy hungry and i get so excited to eat. with that excitement my belly feels and looks like i have eaten thanksgiving dinner at the end of every night! seriously? already! my energy has come back a bit. thank goodness because i no longer want to fall asleep at my desk! though, i am ready for bed around 9:30pm every night.
i scheduled my first doctor's appointment for monday. the doctor will be able to refer me to an obgyn to really get this prenatal care rolling! and then we will know soon enough exactly how far a long the doctor thinks i am. (side note: my cycle is kinda crazy long. so technically, it has been 6 weeks since my missed period) but, in reality, i am almost positive i'm not quite that far along. we'll keep you posted!

The Baby Cake: Week 4 (We're Pregnant!)
(two lines = positive)
holy cow! we're pregnant! again...technically (we lost a pregnancy very early on back in july). so as i sit here hopefully optimistic i am a bit cautious with my excitement. my fingers are securely crossed that this new little one will want to stay and hang out for about 9 months before joining our family of four. you know, me, j and the baby's fur brother and sister! so needless to say, for the next couple of weeks we are going to keep this hush hush because well, it was tough last time!other than being completely exhausted and starving the majority of the time i am feeling pretty good. work has been consuming our days so we haven't had a lot of time to sit back and realize "whoa! we are going to be parents!"
seriously though, we are going to be parents. that is freaking nuts! especially because 90% of the time jason & i are, well, kids!
it is a funny thing to be at this place in our lives, this place where we are considered old enough to be parents. it is so important to the both of us to create a loving, safe, adventurous, encouraging home for our children. i don't know if we know exactly how to do that just yet & i know it will be a constant challenge for us to learn, adjust and reconsider our first attempts at times. but, the thing i do know is that jason and i are committed to working together, as a team.
i hope this little munchkin is ready for a wild ride because lord knows we don't sit back, we jump in the driver seat and GO! here is to baby davis in roughly 249 days!

Labor Day with DK
hooray! hooray! it's DK!
a LOT has been going on lately. very, very stressful things have hit our plates. a long story that can't really grace the pages of this blog. but just trust jason and i have been under some serious stress over the last few weeks.
so needless to say it was awesome to have a weekend with DK. when the four of us unite it is bound to be a good time. we kept it pretty simple this weekend. but with DK, simple, is perfect because it still equals FUN!
Danny & Kristen cruised the red eye and j had to work in the morning.
so...when j finally got home from work we grabbed some burgers.
then headed home to catch the notre dame game & nap!
TOUCHDOWN!!!! notice K sleeping
abigail joining her. yes, she put the towel over her face like that.
that evening we enjoyed dinner up on our rooftop!
the next morning we grabbed brunch and then headed downtown to walk across the brooklyn bridge! the weather was perfect for a long walk!
our afternoon was filled with...
AND...
labor day i woke up feeling terrible! so i napped most of the day. danny and jason took the pups on a much needed walk through central park. in the afternoon we headed down to high line for a stroll on the westside. the highline is an old railroad track that is now a raised walkway/park to hang & enjoy.
see the cool wood chaises that roll on the old railroad tracks?
we continued our walk down to the hudson river. where we sat and chatted...enjoyed the sunset and realized that the saying below is so true.
i know it's small but is says...
i can sail without wind, i can row without oars, but i cannot part from my friend without tears.
thank you DK for being such amazing friends. constantly supporting us & coming to see us!
miss you guys already!
P.S. how sad is this...we didn't get a picture of the four of us. bummer.

They're Baaaaccckkkk...
and we couldn't have been happier!
let's get real here people i LOVE the heck out of my parents. i miss getting to see them on the regular and i so appreciate them making an effort to get out here as often as the do. i have always said i am totally and completely spoiled with love! i hope to provide a home like my parents did, one day, for our future littles.
what? you want to see their cute faces? i don't blame you...i promise i will deliver a few gems of my adorable ma and pa. but first things first. let's start at the top.
it all started with this...and oh-boy-oh-boy it was just as delightful the second time around!
then the crowd went silent because we had to work! boo...two thumbs seriously way down and a full on sad lip. picture it people because it's real and it happened.
because i had to work on saturday. whack. i took friday off to soak in some parent time. we toured the city on the double decker bus, which was a blast. i've never done it and enjoyed all the fun facts provided by our first guide.
ever wonder where sesame street lives? on the 6th floor of this building.
see all their pictures in the window
a little stop off with a walk through harlem (really it's not that scary) to get to...
my papa's home away from home!
so i mentioned i worked saturday. well jason was forced. yes, forced to work on saturday too (and NOT by me). his options - the warehouse or my jobsite. guess what he picked?!
my jobsite...good choice because it was a gorgeous day outside. probably the best yet this summer.
here is what i do for a living...
unfortunately. here in new york i don't get to design events like this very often. so this wedding was a real treat because the bride totally trusted me to make this happen!
driving back to the city was amazing. the sky was crystal clear and the temperature was perfection.
since we had a rental car for the weekend (because of work) we decided to venture outside the city on sunday to do some "apple" picking.
first stop...
about an hour drive and we had arrived at sherwood farm in connecticut.
take a look around inside...what a selection!
can you imagine the things were are about to pick?
"excuse me, it said on your website we can pick our own fruit! how do we do that?"
cashier - "oh yeah, that. that's a little discrepancy on our site. we are working on fixing that!"
we just all kind of looked at each other, giggled and said "a little discrepancy!"
side comment to each other, "a little discrepancy...more like we drove over an hour to come here to pick our own fruit!"
THANK heaven for our iPhones.
a quick little google search had us back on the road onto our next farm.
but, first a few photos in front of the tractor because
and a couple of j pretend picking because at this point we didn't know there was another farm close by so we at least wanted to get the motion out of our systems!
next up...
my dad saying "add a little bit of this and that and then ch-ch-ch ch-ch-ch"
in other words (chop, chop, chop - chop, chop, chop)
what's wrong j? is it the size of your pepper? you look bummed.
how cool is this?
and this...i spy a bumble bee.
to end our little day trek my mom searched for a spot on the diners, drive-ins & dives website.
that was after the GPS took us into the ghetto instead of a lunch spot by the sea.
it was a fun way to find a spot to eat and ended up being pretty tasty.
one last meal together before they left.
we snagged some burgers and dogs from shake shack.
it just isn't in-n-out but pulls a line about the same length...even in the rain.
we LOVE you mom & dad. thank you for coming to visit. it means the world to me.
i look forward to the next time i can see you both!
