A Week in Rewind: Part I

we are back to real life, after a wonderful week at home. our week plans shifted a bit because of a sad family loss but we soaked in all the extra time we got with family and truly made the best of the time we had in sweet, sweet california.

in an effort to not have you fall asleep at your computers, i am going to break our week of adventures into a few posts.

so let's get this week in rewind rolling, shall we! the fun started with jer picking us up from LAX and heading straight to in-n-out. yes, it was 11am in the morning and we were devouring cheeseburgers. what's your point? you know you would do it too! wink. wink. it allowed us to kill enough time before heading to pickup leroy from the airport!

leroy had a BIG day. next stop san dimas costco to meet his new papa!

and then home to meet his new sissy! 

(my mama was up north doing some amazing things! so their meeting happened a bit later!)

jer & j headed to the rage show that night...and my dad & i grubbed on some sushi!

the next morning kicked off - execution "get lindsey's baby shower ready!"

i had been having some serious "nightmares" about her shower. i kept waking up and realizing that i had either missed the shower or totally forgot to do anything for it and guest were arriving!

fortunately...that did not really happen. could you imagine?!?

kristen, erica & i headed to the flower mart. ah. melt my heart. love that place.

we found some perfect flowers that were spot on with what we had planned. love when that happens!

we headed back to my parents and worked away like it was christmas eve

before heading out to catch dinner with the gang!

and yes, i am working...on vacation. 

then we wandered over to RA Sushi were our "third times the charm" not a real 10 year reunion was attempting to take place. it is still kind of sad to me that our class didn't have a REAL 10 year reunion. 

ssshhhh...don't tell. i let laney play in the fountain. oh-wait. lindsey reads my blog. secrets out!

how could i not?! LOOK at that face! she was having too much fun!

Central Park Stroll

sweating in general is new to me. i honestly don't really sweat, unless i am working out. here, i will be sitting on our couch and start sweating for no apparent reason. other than the simple fact that it is out of control hot & HUMID! i enjoy humidity when it is accompanied by crystal clear blue waters and a beach. not the case here. so, our walks with the pups tend to start later in the evening, when the air is slightly cooler and the sun has dropped down into the horizon.

j & i have been taking the pups across central park to the westside where we can enjoy shake shack. and after a 3 mile walk you don't feel so guilty for stuffing your face with a tasty burger and a concrete (a delicious mix of custard and some other not so healthy things thrown together). it is definitely NOT in-n-out but it helps when the mood for a burger strikes.

one perk to summer rain is how lush & green the park stays.

on ANOTHER note. a sadder note. we had to make a tough decision about our new little man. 

he is hands down the sweetest pup. he is such a good boy. and the BIGGEST lover. 

a total mama's boy and my heart feels bitter sweet about this...

 leroy will be moving to california. his flight leaves this thursday on pet airways. 

apparently, abigail and sebastian have no interest in sharing me with another pup. leroy cannot get within 3 feet of me most days without one of them getting rather upset. 

and leroy's goal in life is to be touching me with some part of him at all times.

so...you can see we have a dilemma on our hands.

on a happy note! my parents will be making a home for him. 

which means we will still get to see this sweet little boy when we are in town.

AND he will get to have sofie as his sister! 

she will be much nicer to him than abigail and sebastian, i know!

AND on an even HAPPIER note... 

we are headed west very, very soon and have a jam packed trip lined up already. 

oh how i wish we were booking a one way ticket back to california just like leroy 

(with abigail and sebastian too, of course!)

Happy 4th of July!

wow! i am back. and hopefully won't disappear like that again for a few months. sigh.

june is o-v-e-r! and i am somewhat relived. it was a non-stop work month. crazy, crazy, crazy days of running around like a chicken with no head. by the end of it (because May was totally insane at work too) we were ready for a serious BREAK! one thing i knew for sure i wanted OUT of the city. every city.

if you know our travel habits, you know, we book last minute almost every.single.time. i think i've mentioned before we booked our honeymoon two weeks before the wedding. when people asked us where we were going, we'd smile & say we are tossing around some different options. their mouths would drop to the floor, like we had just attempted to break into their home. okay, maybe not that dramatic but you get the idea. it's just how we seem to roll.

but, this trip takes the cake, on the last minute front. we booked it thursday night at midnight. so technically, friday morning?

so let's get to it.
we hailed a cab early saturday morning and headed to the airport.

 yep...that early.

almost there...eek. so excited!

oh, i forgot to mention. where this flight was taking us...the BAHAMAS!!!
sweet heaven. you have no IDEA how ready i was to have some sunshine & relaxation.

lot of laziness going on. lot of LAZINESS!

at dinner the wait staff broke out into a happy birthday song that lasted for about 5mins. they went from happy birthday to a LOUD drum performance.
funny side story, i was so nervous the whole performance that someone was going to get mad at them for being so loud because people of the subway get so irritated when performances get too loud.

that night we wandered down to the beach and enjoyed watching a thunderstorm right on the water.
this was before it really got dark.

and then the magic started happening...

what happens when thunderstorms move closer? the turn into crazy tropical down pours.
the end result...being soaking wet.

can you see how wet we are? we literally ran, maybe 100ft, a we were dripping wet.

so you know how i said some serious laziness was going on?
well, it got even lazier. so photos are kinda all over the place from here on out...
it is NOW the 4th. we rotated between the pool & beach almost all day.
that evening, we decided on room service. proof, we are lazy! :)

the next day (monday) we did more of the same. explored dowtown nassau and had a tasty lunch.

our trip ended early tuesday morning. it was so nice to get away & relax!

our trip ended on a wonderful note!
